Last weekend saw the annual Watership Down shoot and again, quite a few brave souls found themselves entering 'The Warren'.
But things were a little different from last year, Betty's catering was not in the usual position and there were judges wandering off away from 'The Warren'. What did Peter and his gang have up their sleeves this year? All became clear at assembly, this year the shoot had been extended into 'The Coombe'.
'The Coombe' was some distance away from 'The Warren' and was both steeper and higher. It was hot again and above us the Buzzards circled like vultures knowing that there might be a few pickings during the weekend as archers succummed.
There were not so many rabbits about this year, probably scared away by the buzzards, but we did get to shoot at the 'Bunnies' provided by Peter.
There were some additional hazards to avoid whilst we negotiated our way around 'The Warren' - 2mtr high thistles.
Now being a FITA Arrowhead round, the faces have to be marked before withdrawing the arrows and this can be interesting on slopes!
There are not many places where you get views like this when you are shooting!
Thanks again to Overton Black Arrows for putting on a great tournament, I'll try and recover enough to go again next year.
